Out now: “Secret Histories: Detective Fiction, Hermeneutic Skepticism, and Bad Readers in the Contemporary African Novel” in ARIEL: A REVIEW OF INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH LITERATURE

04.20.2022. My article, “Secret Histories: Detective Fiction, Hermeneutic Skepticism, and Bad Readers in the Contemporary African Novel,” has been published in ARIEL: A Review of International English Literature and is available here. An in-depth exploration of “global” African fiction, genre, and the hermeneutics of detective fiction, this article provides an in-depth analysis of Chris Abani’s The Secret History of Las Vegas (2014) in dialogue with Teju Cole’s Open City (2011). The article is part of an on-going project on contemporary African writing and genre fiction.
